It is recommended that everyone do at least half an hour to 45 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity every day. This does not have to be all in one go...it can be in three ten minute blocks or even six five minute blocks.

You can join a sports club, go riding, swimming, brisk walking - anything that moves your body. IDF located in Caulfield North is a private personal trainig studio also offering Krav Maga (self defence).

 

STOP SITTING

This week why not try and increase your activity each day through incidental activity?

Incidental activity is incorporating being active into your lifestyle, as opposed to planned exercise. Just 'Stop Sitting' and see activity as an opportunity not an inconvenience!

Here are some suggestions...

- Park your car further away from the shops or work and walk a block
- Get off the bus, train or tram a stop early and walk
- Take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator
- Dance at home to your favourite music
- Go down the slide with the kids at the park rather than just watching
- Put away the remote and get up to change the channels on the TV
- Go for a walk with your family after dinner
